Grotonwood Camps for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities Summer 2012
Each day we have a choice - serve ourselves or serve others. When we look at Jesus' life, He always put the needs of others before His own even to the point of giving His life so that we may have eternity with God! This summer at Grotonwood learn how you, with the love of Jesus, can serve others in your school, family, neighborhood, and all over the world!
This session is full of adventure! Come to camp and enjoy all of the activities we offer, like crafts, archery, pontoon and paddle boat rides, singing in the chapel, campfires, karaoke, swimming and field games. This camp is designed for moderate to high functioning adults with special needs, and we even offer in-camp transportation for those with difficulty walking. Be sure you don't miss out on this great opportunity to make friends, learn about God, and have a memorable camp experience.

There is a daily spending limit on food and drink. Pictures & DVDs
Campers will have a group picture taken during their camp session, which may be purchased in advance during registration. In addition, it is possible that campers may be photographed or videotaped for promotional purposes. If you object to this, please notify camp in writing prior to your camper's arrival. Mail
Campers love to receive mail. Be sure mail is sent prior to your camper's stay. We do not forward mail after the camper has departed. You can write, send a card or package to the following address:

Medication and Nurse Procedures
Grotonwood has nurses on duty for every session. Medications brought to camp are kept in the infirmary at all times and are administered by the nurse. Upon arrival at registration, the camper's medication is given to the nurse for proper storage and security.
As a legal requirement, medication must be in the original packaging bearing the pharmacy label which shows the date of filling, pharmacy name and address, filling pharmacist's initials, serial number of the prescription, patients name, doctor's name, the name of the medication directions, and cautions. These will be returned to you at the end of the camp session.
Only our certified personnel will administer medications to the campers. Please be sure that all medications, including over-the-counter medications such as asprin and allergy medications are given to the nurse. No medications are allowed in rooms. Be sure that you speak directly with the nurse regarding any and all concerns about the administration of medications. The counselors are not allowed to administer any medications, including antibacterial creams, etc., without nurse delegation.
Emergencies
If an emergency should occur and you need to reach your camper, call the office number. Should an emergency occur at camp, the Camp Director, nurse, or the Special Needs Coordinator will contact you. If your camper should need to be transported to the hospital, you will be contacted immediately. Please be sure to provide camp with current phone numbers where the emergency contact can be easily reached.

RULES AND REQUESTS
Phone Calls
Please know it is difficult to have campers receive phone calls during their stay at Grotonwood. They will be involved in activities throughout the day and evening. However, we are pleased to visit with you by phone should you inquire about your camper. You may call the offices at Grotonwood.
Visitors and Guests
Security is a priority at Grotonwood. Although visitors are welcomed at camp, we discourage visitation during the camp session, as this disrupts the activities and the camper's daily schedule. Grotonwood offer campers and their providers the opportunity to visit camp in May during our open-house Preview Day. This is a great time to tour the facilities and have many of your questions answered by our caring staff. If you need to visit your camper, you must sign in at the office upon arrival.
Rules and Requests
The following items are NOT permitted on the campgrounds: Alcohol, drugs, firearms, fireworks, flammables, pets. Smoking is permitted ONLY in designated areas. Adult campers and visitors must adhere to this policy. It is a fire hazard to toss cigarette butts into trashcans or to smoke in unauthorized areas. All vehicles must park in designated parking areas, on the camp grounds, as directed by camp staff. The speed limit in camp is 5 mph.
