As a legal requirement, medication must be in the original packaging bearing the pharmacy label which shows the date of filling, pharmacy name and address, filling pharmacist's initials, serial number of the prescription, patients name, doctor's name, the name of the medication directions, and cautions. These will be returned to you at the end of the camp session.

Only our certified personnel will administer medications. Please be sure that all medications, including over-the-counter medications such as aspirin and allergy medications are given to the nurse. No medications are allowed in rooms. Be sure that you speak directly with the nurse regarding any and all concerns about the administration of medications. The counselors are not allowed to administer any medications, including antibacterial creams, etc., without nurse delegation.

RULES AND REQUESTS

RULES AND REQUESTS

Phone Calls

Please know it is difficult to have campers receive phone calls during their stay at Oceanwood due to the nature of our property and the involvement of campers in various activities throughout the day and evening. However, we are pleased to visit with you by phone should you wish to inquire about your camper. You may call the office at Oceanwood.

Visitors and Guests

Security is a priority at Oceanwood. Although visitors are welcomed at camp, we discourage visitation during the camp session, as this disrupts the activities and the camper's daily schedule. If you need to visit your camper, please inform the office of your visit and upon arrival sign in at the office so you can be welcomed and recognized on the property as a guest.

Oceanwood offers campers, and their providers, the opportunity to visit camp on Sunday, May 29 during our Open House Preview Day from 12:00 to 3:00pm. This event is a great time to enjoy lunch on us, tour the facilities, and have your questions answered by our caring staff.

Rules and Requests

  • The following items are NOT permitted on the campgrounds: Alcohol, drugs, firearms, fireworks, flammables, and pets.
  • For safety reasons, smoking is permitted ONLY in designated areas. We ask that all adult campers and visitors adhere to this policy as a way to ensure the beauty of our property and desire to respect others. Smoking in designated areas will limit fire hazards such as tossing cigarette butts into trashcans or on other flammable surfaces.
  • We ask that all vehicles park in designated parking areas, on the camp grounds, as directed by camp staff.
  • The speed limit in camp is 5 mph.

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE INFO

Arrivals

We are excited to welcome you to camp.

Registration is open at Oceanwood from 2:00-4:00 PM.

NOTE: Parent or guardian/caretaker must accompany all campers during the entire registration process (about 1 hour), and must be familiar enough with the camper and their needs to discuss them with our staff.

The Registration Process

We wish to provide a safe, caring camp session to all campers, therefore it is critical that we have a complete picture of all medical, behavioral, and social needs of the camper from those who know them best. This will enable our staff to become familiar with the camper and ensure that they have a safe, enjoyable week at camp.

Registration typically involves the following:
  • You will be greeted and directed to the parking & registration area.
  • A staff member will greet you and provide lodging information.
  • You may deposit money into the store account, order photos or DVD's.
  • The nurse will be available to review medications (including PRN's) and other needs or concerns.
  • Next, you will meet the program coordinator, unit leader and counselors in their designated living quarters, find their room, and unpack. At this point you may review any additional information with the staff.

Departure

On Friday of the camp session, you will need to arrive at camp at 1:30 PM to pick up your camper. Please go directly to where your camper stayed during the week. A parent, guardian, or previously designated person MUST sign the check-out form. Extra store money, the camp photo, and any leftover medications will be returned to you.
